Economic Analysis Unit, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority
June 2024
I spent one week working within the Economic Analysis Unit at LCRCA, where I developed data analysis and visualisation skills, and produced my own report on B2B Trade within the Liverpool City Region to be included in a future LCR Quarterly Economic Briefing.
Department for Business and Trade
April 2024
I completed a four-day placement in the Wider Europe South team of the International Strategy and Trade Relations Directorate. A lot of it was spent shadowing my supervisor and learning about international trade policy and how international market access barriers are dealt with, and speaking with colleagues from around the organisation about their roles and career journeys which allowed me to gauge an idea of the many different ways to become a Civil Servant. I attended a Directorate-level away day, which gave me an insight into how the DBT operates as a corporate organisation, and also produced a research summary on the economy of Israel.
Employment and Skills Policy Team, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority
August 2023
I sought this placement when I first became interested in a career in public policy. Within the team, I was tasked with creating a briefing on policies around the Green Economy in the LCR, which involved me researching, reading policy documents and manifesto pledges, and liaising with colleagues from around the organisation. I also developed my own policy recommendations based on my findings, which gave me the opportunity to explore possible policy outcomes.
